Today we’re going to be comparing the two most-popular type of white wines, the two types of still whites you’re most likely to find on the shelves of your local wine shop so next time you go there, you know which one you should pick, and why.
We’re going to be talking about and comparing wines made from two different grapes, both of French origin: Chardonnay on one side, the most popular of all white wines, in the US and around the world, and Sauvignon Blanc on the other side.
I’m going to be telling you what are the key characteristics of these two wines and how they differ, and then I’m going to go one step further, comparing two Chardonnays, one from France, from Chablis a very famous type of French Chardonnay from Burgundy, with a California Chardonnay, namely Rombauer. And I’ll be tasting a French Sauvignon blanc from the Loire valley of France, with a Sauvignon Blanc from a country that’s now become very popular for its Sauv Blanc wines: New Zealand.
