Cabernet Franc is often overshadowed by its better-known offspring, Cabernet Sauvignon – this webinar shines the spotlight on this historic grape. Richard Lane DipWSET, journalist and recent WSET School London Diploma graduate, explores the variety’s spiritual home in the Loire Valley, its importance in blends in Bordeaux, along with its cultivation further afield including some of the great expressions found in South America and its use for Icewine in Canada. Richard will discuss the grape’s heritage, its key characteristics and regions of production including how climate change is influencing the styles of wines produced.
As part of the webinar, Richard tasted the following two wines:
Chinon ‘Le Temps des Cerises, Domaine de la Noblaie 2019
Tabalí Vetas Blancas Cabernet Franc 2017
