Wines of Substance 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon CS Value Wine Review

Wine Types
The Substance label is owned by Charles Smith, a prominent winemaker from Washington State. Charles started off as a rock band manager, then owned a wine shop but eventually went into winemaking. He wanted to produce affordable wine for people to drink in its purest form. A winemaker for consumers.

He was very successful at building a number of brands, including Charles Smith wines and Kung Fu Girl, which he sold to Constellation Brands in 2016. He kept some of his other brands like K Vintners and Wines of Substance.

The Wines of Substance brand was created in 2015 with the original idea being to produce great, affordable Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The brand has expanded to other grape varietals. This wine, the Substance 2018 CS Cabernet Sauvignon is made with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grape grown at several vineyards in the Columbia Valley. It is aged in French oak barriques, 50% which are new for 11 months.
