I am a qualified winemaker, and I made wine working at wineries around the world for about ten years, before I started writing and making videos about it, and during those winemaking days when I met new people and they asked me ‘what do you do’, I’d say that I am into wine, to which they would respond, ‘Ah, you’re a sommelier’, well no, I’m a winemaker, and that’s when most people would get confused. Yes, there are different types of jobs, and very different skillsets even in a relatively small industry like wine, just like in the car business, you’ve got engineers, car dealers, and race car drivers, it’s not quite the same thing.
