Bordeaux Wine Basics – 4th Growth Wines

Beginner
There are 10 Fourth Growth wines in the 1855 Classification system. They are (in order of listing in 1855, based on price per barrel):

Château St.-Pierre (St.-Julien)
Château Talbot (St.-Julien)
Château Branaire Ducru (St.-Julien)
Château Duhart Milon Rothschild (Pauillac)
Château Pouget (Margaux)
Château La Tour Carnet (Haut-Médoc)
Château LafonRochet (St.Estèphe)
Château Beychevelle St.Julien
Château Prieuré-Lichine (Margaux)
Château Marquis de Terme (Margaux)

Sorry, a viewer pointed out I said Branaire Ducru was from the Margaux region, which it is not…it is from St. Julien. So I got a bit mixed up My comment about Margaux 3rd-5th growth wines is still my view. Separate and apart from that, it is also my view that Branaire Ducru is just OK….my experience with this wine is that I have never had a bottle that has surprised me on the upside.
