Wine Education 101: Francesco di FIllipis describes Ciliegiolo

Beginner
What is Ciliegiolo? Winemaker and biodynamic farmer Francesco di Fillpis talks about the Cilegiolo grape that he grows at Tenuta di Poggio (Cosimo Maria Masini) in San Miniato, Tuscany. The grape is thinner skinned than Sangiovese and the named is derived from the Italian word for cherry as it produces a wine reminiscent of red cherries. Ask a Winemaker sat down with Francesco in Chicago at Red and White Wines in 2013.
