Today Wine-Searcher’s Wine Director and Master of Wine David Allen MW tastes the 2021 vintage of Two Hands’ Gnarly Dudes Barossa Valley Shiraz.

The wine is names for the main character in the Cohen Brothers film “The Big Lebowski” who tells people nobody calls him Lebowski, they call him “The Dude” – The Gnarly dudes in this case are old, twisted, thick trunked Shiraz vines.

Two Hands is a Barossa Valley-based producer, specializing in red wines, predominantly made from Shiraz. The brand was founded in 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz as a negociánt-style business in the Barossa Valley. Now, the company makes a range of wines from McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, the Barossa Valley and the Clare Valley in South Australia, and Heathcote in Victoria. The inaugural vintage from Two Hands was in 2000, their winey in the Barossa Valley was completed in 2004.
