What does 2021 have in store for Sarah Jessica Parker? Tune in to Straight Talk with Wine Spectator on Instagram Live, this Tuesday, March 2, at 7 p.m., to learn about how the Golden Globe-winning actor got into the wine business as a New Zealand vintner with the help of winemakers Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne of Invivo Wines.
Parker, who is also a producer and fashion designer, met with Lightbourne and Cameron in 2018 via a mutual connection, and decided to launch Invivo X by SJP, a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc brand, in the fall of 2019.
“I love learning. I’m curious. I’m excited to have professional opportunities. But I also think that I have to be deserving of them. And I’ve never done anything where I’ve just put my name on it and walked away,” Parker told Wine Spectator in 2019. “If I’m not going to drink it and believe in it, if I’m not going to wear my own shoes, then who am I to ask anyone to drink it or wear my shoes or anything else?”
The Sex and the City star isn’t letting the pandemic stop her wine curiosity either. Last year, Parker released a French rosé under the same label, and blended her 2020 Sauvignon Blanc over Zoom.
Straight Talk with Wine Spectator is an Instagram Live series featuring conversations with wine-and-food newsmakers. The live chats kicked off in April 2020 amid widespread shutdowns from the COVID-19 crisis and have since expanded into regularly scheduled programming once a week. Tomorrow’s chat will be hosted by senior editor MaryAnn Worobiec on Wine Spectator‘s Instagram page.
